IsoMet

Turn a PCF file into a complete set of standard isometric drawings — automatically laid out, dimensioned, and ready to issue. No CAD software required.

Overview

IsoMet reads a standard PCF (Piping Component File) — the same isometric interchange format produced by IsoGen and most 3D piping design tools — and renders it as a schematic 2D isometric drawing. Pipes, fittings, valves, and supports are parsed automatically and laid out across as many A3 landscape sheets as the run requires, breaking cleanly at sensible points and cross-referencing continuations between sheets.

Every sheet includes a Bill of Materials, revision history, and title block, built server-side so the output is consistent and repeatable — the same PCF always produces the same drawing. Export the finished set as DXF for CAD or PDF for issue, or share a read-only link with your team or client.

Key Features

PCF Import

Upload a standard .pcf file and IsoMet parses pipes, elbows, tees, reducers, valves, flanges, gaskets, bolts, instruments, bellows, and supports — no manual redrawing.

Automatic Sheet Layout

Long runs split across as many A3 landscape sheets as needed, with "CONTD. ON/FROM SHEET" cross-references at every break — no manual sheet planning.

Bill of Materials & Title Block

Every sheet carries a clubbed Bill of Materials (size, length, description), a support legend, and a title block with revision history, project, and client details.

Dimensions & Support Symbols

Pipe lengths, valve types, and support types (Anchor, Rest, Guide, Line Stop, Spring Can, Spring Hanger) draw as standard isometric schematic symbols with an axis triad on every sheet.

DXF & PDF Export

Export the full sheet set as DXF for CAD or PDF for issue — one file per sheet, zipped, matching exactly what's shown on screen including the Bill of Materials and title block.

Secure Sharing

Share a read-only isometric viewer via signed URL (7-day expiry). Revision controlled like every other document — alpha drafts, numeric issued revisions, full history.

How It Works

1
Import Your PCF

Upload a .pcf file from IsoGen or any 3D piping design tool. IsoMet parses the geometry, fittings, and supports automatically.

2
Review the Drawing

The isometric sheet set renders instantly — Bill of Materials, dimensions, and support symbols included. Set the vertical axis and save a revision.

3
Export & Share

Export the full sheet set to DXF or PDF, or share a read-only viewer link with your team or client.

Drawing Engine

Sheets are generated server-side from the parsed PCF geometry — no manual drafting, and the same file always produces the same drawing:

  • Element coverage: Pipe, Elbow, Tee (inline and set-on), Reducer, Valve (type-specific bow-tie glyphs), Flange, Gasket, Bolt, Instrument, Bellow, and misc components
  • Sheet format: Fixed A3 landscape, automatic clash detection and re-layout, continuation notes between sheets
  • Vertical axis: Choose Z-up or Y-up to match your model's convention
  • Bill of Materials: Rows clubbed by size and description with summed length, plus a master BOM across all sheets
  • Export fidelity: DXF and PDF exports are generated from the same rendered drawing, so output matches the on-screen view exactly
  • Free tier: First 5 sheets viewable; DXF/PDF export requires a paid plan

Drawing Details

  • PCF import: The tolerant parser reads the Tee family, reducers, valves with end positions, supports and metadata, and lists anything it skipped as warnings rather than failing the import.
  • Support symbols: Anchors, rests, hold-downs, guides, line stops, hangers and spring cans each draw as their own schematic symbol with a tooltip; a support on a sheet joint is shown solid on the first sheet and dotted on the next.
  • Valve symbols: Gate, globe, ball, plug, butterfly, needle, check, diaphragm, angle, Y-type and 3-way valves each have their own schematic glyph.
  • Title block: Every sheet carries the revision history, project and document details, client and organisation logos, and an X/Y/Z axis triad.
  • Layout: One continuous piping segment per sheet, lengthened or moved to a new sheet when it would clash or leave the drawing area, with CONTD. ON / FROM SHEET notes at every split.
  • Bill of Materials: Each sheet lists its items and supports; the master BOM clubs rows by size and description with a global item number and the sheets where each appears.
