Overview

Specifications captures a piping class's complete material requirements in one document. Each specification is a stack of sheets — general data, material tables, wall-thickness and flange rating checks, and notes — that you add, reorder and revise like any other engineering document.

Material requirements are entered as size-range rows across six tables (pipe, flanges, fittings, gaskets, couplings, olets). The engine checks every size against your design conditions and flags anything that does not meet the selected code.

Key Features

Sheet-Based Documents

Add, remove and reorder sheets inside a single specification. Each sheet is saved with its inputs and outputs, so a specification reads like a real engineering document.

Six Material Tables

Pipe, flanges, fittings, gaskets, couplings and olets. Enter size ranges (from → to), assign schedules, classes and descriptions row by row. Material options change automatically with the selected material group.

Wall-Thickness Checks

Per-size required wall thickness using ASME B31.1, B31.3, AS 4041 or ISO 4427 (HDPE), including allowable stress, weld strength factor W, coefficient Y, corrosion allowance and 12.5% mill tolerance.

Pipe Manufacturing Type

Each pipe row selects its seam type — SMLS, ERW, EFW, DSAW or FBW — which drives the joint efficiency E in the wall-thickness formula. Options adapt to the material (plastic pipes have no seam).

Flange Rating Checks

Select an ASME B16.5 flange class and material group. The sheet verifies the design pressure and temperature against the class rating and flags NOT RATED / OK / EXCEEDED.

Revisions & Export

Full alpha → numeric revision control, PDF export with cover and appendices, Word download and 7-day signed sharing links for read-only viewing.

Sheets & Engine

A specification is assembled from these sheets:

  • General Data: specification number, fluid/services (from the project Fluids DB), design code, design pressure/temperature, corrosion allowance and material group.
  • Piping Material Specification: the core sheet — pipe class, description, design conditions, test pressure, flange rating and the six material tables.
  • Wall Thickness & Schedule: per-size required wall thickness and schedule selection for the chosen code.
  • Flange Pressure Rating: ASME B16.5 class pressure-temperature rating check against the design conditions.
  • Notes & References: free-form notes attached to the specification.

Wall thickness uses t = P·D / [2·(S·E·W + P·Y)], where E is the per-row joint efficiency from the pipe seam type, W is the weld strength factor (interpolated with temperature) and Y is the coefficient from the selected code.
